Product Description

While babies are pretty much the same as they've ever been (cute, cuddly, wonderful-smelling, occasionally loud), products for babies are constantly changing according to the tastes and proclivities of parents, and, of course, the available technology. Still, a car seat needs to do only one thing, and do it well: it needs to cushion your child's body safely in your car. So, how do you make an essential baby product even better? By making it easier to use, of course! The Chicco NextFit Convertible Car Seat improves on other car seat models by making it easier than ever to install correctly. The ReclineSure 9-position Leveling System and the totally impressive SuperCinch LATCH System take all of the guesswork and yanking out of car seat installation, giving you more time to do important things like... enjoying how cute and cuddly your baby is. The SuperCinch LATCH System really is a game-changer: integrated pulleys quadruple the force of your pull, so it takes virtually no install you...

25 of 26 people found the following review helpful.I have been waiting for months for this product to come out. We bought the Gemini (purple) from Babies R Us. My daughter is tall for her age (27 inches at 6 months). We had the Chicco Keyfit 30, and have used it since we brought her home from the hospital. We loved it. I did a ton of research for convertible car seats, and decided this was the best one. The seat is very heavy, but that is a good thing in my opinion. I feel like it is sturdy and safe. I installed it in my car yesterday. It took less than 5 minutes to properly install the seat. The latch system on this seat is super easy to tighten. In the past, I have sat in and kneeled in seats while pulling with all my might to get them tight enough. With this seat, all I had to do was pull each latch strap, and it was in super tight! I think that is my favorite feature so far. I also loved that it has 9 recline options. My car has pretty deep bucket seats in the back, and I didn't want to have to roll up a towel or something to get the proper recline. I didn't have any problems finding the correct angle. The bubble level feature is great! The only complaint I have is that the straps seem a little stiff, and it is a little tough to get them as tight as I like once the baby is in the seat. I feel like that problem will get better as we use the seat more. The seat is very well cushioned. I was pleased with how soft and comfy it feels. My daughter seemed comfortable in the seat. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful.I agonized over which seat to get for my son, and then when I went to actually look at them in a store, no other seat could hold a candle to this one! It's so new I haven't seen any safety or crash rest ratings, but I know it has a steel frame which most seats don't have, and the padding is so much better than any other seat, even Britax ones! The headrest is also super padded but firm. All the other ones seemed flimsy and not padded enough. My opinion is that my son's safety is the most important thing, and money is no object for me. I just want the best for him! That's why I got this seat. (We had a Chicco KeyFit for him and loved that too!) Once seated, my son seems VERY comfortable in this! Some random things I haven't seen addressed elsewhere:The seat comes with an attachable cupholder. The headrest is attached to the back panel of the seat which has ONE hole for the harness shoulder straps to pass through. So when you move the headrest up, the straps will move up with it. At the top of the straps there are very rigid pads and my son hates these against his neck, and goes bonkers when we wove the chest clip up towards them. This seat is very heavy. I couldn't lift it in the store, so I ordered it online and dragged it through my front door.***WILL THIS FIT IN MY CAR???***Something that's VERY important to know: This seat is BIG. The literature says that there are 9 recline settings and this "can fit in almost any car." What they don't tell you is that you have to use a certain setting to get the bubble in an acceptable part of the level on the outside of the headrest area. (I'm taking away a star because I think this is very misleading) True, you don't want your child sitting bolt upright, but when you're in the store, just like me, you'll adjust it to upright and say "this will fit, no problem!" My husband has a 2012 VW Jetta Sport Wagon, and it has one of the smallest back seats ever created. Add to this that we're both 5'11", and we realized we had a problem. We *BARELY* squeezed it in, but we had to install it in the middle of the back seat, and we had to slide our seats as far forward as possible without our knees touching our chins. The back seat is level, but to get the recline bubble in the proper part of the level, we had to put it on setting 2 (setting 1 is the most reclined). Since we couldn't put it behind the driver's seat, we now have to contort ourselves and our baby in the smallest back seat on earth, and his head gets bumped on the ceiling every time we get him in or out. As a result, he squirms and cries when he sees it. We are now considering whether we need a different car. Our other option is to get a smaller seat for his car and put the NextFit in my rarely-driven behemoth-mobile, but none of the other seats' head protection even came close to this one, and IMO there's no excuse not to have him as protected as possible. My tip though - when you look at this seat in the store, put it on setting 2 or 3 and think about whether that would fit in your back seat...The summary - we'd rather buy a new car than use a different car seat!!!!!

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. We got our 1 year old a evenflo sureride, but she just looked so uncomfortable, and we could not get it to recline enough on our seats. And she would not sleep in it. We took a 3hr trip and she screamed and cried the whole way there. We took it back and got the nextfit. I was worried that it wouldnt be worth the extra $150 difference between the 2 seats.Well, this is day 1 with the nextfit, and I already love it. We have been running around all day in the car, and she is taking her 2nd nap in her car seat! Huge improvement from a screaming baby on a 3 hour trip. Just from feeling it, it was super soft and has good padding in the bum and side areas. The 9 position recline is awesome, and easy to adjust with a sleeping baby in the seat. Some "reclining seats" require that you remove the seat, tip it upside down and adjust it that way. I can't imaging how annoying that would be. On the most reclined position (#1) it takes up just as front to back space as the sureride did.Features I like included removable cup holder, a compartment on the seat that holds the manual, and the straps have shoulder pads already.I actually didnt buy mine from amazon, I went to buybuy baby and used a 20% off bed, bath, and beyond coupon. (It's their parent company) they send out 20% off coupons in the mail all time, so its nice to know I can use them there! The total cost was $223.99.
