1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.I really wanted to love this seat; however, I would never recommend it to ANYONE now. Please read all the way through- SERIOUS DANGER.I could not figure out how to get the recline to work on the chair. Turns out the bar with the recline button wasn't working. I called Baby Trend who sent me postage to return it. I had to pay for the packaging though since I had thrown the box away. Before I picked that option I had tried exchanging it at Babies R Us first and the display recline wasn't working. They even went out of their way to open a new one in the box and it wasn't working either. I called Baby Trend to confirm, yet again, that the bar the recline button is on is supposed to move (two different agents at Baby Trend confirmed this.) It's a bad sign when 3 seats in one store are not working. I was thrilled about this seat because it's truly easy to install; however, it's supposed to be in the most recline position for a newborn and once it's in my car it needs to be adjusted to the most recline position and there's no way the seat is adjusting to that level. I received a new seat from the company two days after my son was born. (I had to call multiple times to get them to speed this process up. I held on the phone for 40 minutes at one point. They weren't going to even send it that fast knowing my son was arriving.) The seat arrived from the manufacturer and it was working at that time. I did request them to test it before it was sent to me. They even said, "we test the ones we send from here but the ones from the factory are not tested)The icing on the cake here!!! After just four weeks of using the seat I went to remove my son from the seat and the chest clip broke!!! This is a very frightening issue. It literally just snapped off while I was removing him. I don't even want to think of what could have happened if this seat would have been involved in an accident. After discussing with an individual who works at Baby Trend I was told I could either have a new chest clip sent to me or I could "return the seat for a comparable model like the Chicco Keyfit."This is supposed to be a seat that advertises how safe it is, but frankly I don't trust it anymore.

Lots of pros! Great design, all except one thing that we found to be a deal breaker. Most of that time was spent trying to figure out how to make the recline adjustment feature lock in a more upright position. According to the manual, one simply holds down a button, pushes the seat into a more upright position, and releases the button again. Neither I, nor the two store employees, nor the store manager could figure out how to make this work. We read and re-read the instructions. We tried on both the store model and a brand new seat fresh out of the box. What is concerning to me about this seeming failure of the product (maybe the instructions are just really bad and that's why 4 people couldn't figure out how to do this) is that it seems possible that the car seat needs to be able to lock in the fully upright position in the event of a crash. If the car seat cannot be made to lock in a fully upright position manually, then will it function correctly in the event of a crash? That is a question and a conditional that I am not qualified to answer for, but it is certainly something that will stop me spending my money until a resolution is reached and this feature can be found to work.

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful.I was über excited when the opportunity came up to be able to review the Inertia. I've always heard good things about Baby Trend, their seats, their strollers... You name it and if it's Baby Trend brand, I've heard only good things! The second the car seat arrived on my door step, I took it out of the box and started figuring out what I needed to do to set it up for Mackenzie. It didn't take too long because I didn't have to do anything. It was ready for her to be set in and installed in my Envoy. Even if we would've needed to move the straps higher it would've just taken a turn or two of the adjuster knob on the back of the seat itself. I don't know of any other car seat that is THAT easy to get ready for baby!As soon as my hubby got home, I had him install the base to the seat in our Envoy. It was as simple as could be too! He got the one side of the base clipped to the latch anchors in the seat and was easily able to quickly get the other side latched too! Pushing back the handle on the base, we were ready to load Mackenzie and go. Very, very, very simple! We didn't have any long trips to the cabin planned but we noticed that Mackenzie didn't fuss when we put her in the car seat from the beginning! She seemed to enjoy the seat unlike the old car seat. But just this past weekend we gave the seat the true test. We headed to the cabin! The cabin is about a two to two and a half hour drive north of us. That is a really long time for an infant or any child to be in a car seat. Heck, I even get antsy to get out of the truck by the time we get there. This time though, Mackenzie SLEPT the whole trip up to the cabin! She was actually a HAPPY baby when we took her out of her seat! She loves the seat!I would recommend this seat to anyone in need of a new infant seat. It's easy to install, it's comfortable for baby and the best is that it's not very expensive.***Reviewed by Tiff for New Age Mama. Complimentary product received in exchange for an honest review***
